The Monaco Gulf Special Edition celebrates TAG Heuer's enduring partnership with Gulf Oil, two brands forever linked by Steve McQueen's turn in the 1971 film Le Mans. The iconic square case — introduced in 1969 as the world's first automatic chronograph — wears the Gulf racing livery of powder blue and orange with unmistakable presence.
The 39mm stainless steel case retains the Monaco's distinctive square form with its left-side crown position — a signature of the original design. A sapphire crystal protects the dial. Water resistant to 100 metres.
The blue dial carries horizontal racing stripes in Gulf orange, with two chronograph sub-dials at three and nine o'clock and a date aperture at six. The Gulf logo appears on the dial, leaving no doubt as to the edition's motorsport provenance. Luminous hands ensure legibility.
The automatic Calibre 11 powers the chronograph and date complications, a movement that shares its name with the original 1969 calibre that made the Monaco famous.
