Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 (40mm)

This is the newer 40mm Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80, which Tissot introduced to offer a more mid-size automatic diver.

It comes on a stainless steel case/bracelet and a gradient blue dial with vertical texture. Expect a captivating dark blue in the centre, turning almost black near the chapter ring, giving a sense of depth.

The case is 40mm, easier to wear than the 43mm, but still with a dive-ready build: 300m water resistance, screw-down crown, and a unidirectional bezel.

The bezel might be a green ceramic or steel with green insert to match the dial, engraved or printed with gold-tone or silver markings.

Hour markers are generous and filled with lume, and hands are likely nickeled with lume as well. There’s a date window at 6 o’clock, maintaining symmetry.

The Powermatic 80 automatic inside provides 80 hours power reserve and has an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring, improving its resilience.

Tissot includes a display caseback on the Seastar autos, so one can view the movement and its custom rotor.

The bracelet is steel with a divers extension. Additional refinements: the crystal is sapphire, and the bezel likely has a luminous dot at 12.

Summing up, this blue Seastar 40 Auto combines elegance with functionality, featuring a stunning dial and serious dive credentials.

It’s a sweet spot watch for those who want a robust mechanical diver that’s not too large, with a dash of colour to stand out from the crowd.
